UKIAH, 12/12/18 — Ever thought about checking out Christmas lights, while wearing Christmas lights? What about combining that activity with a community bike ride?
Walk & Bike Mendocino has organizing two upcoming events which they call “slow rolls,” in which riders of all ages decorate their bikes with Christmas lights and then ride around enjoying the seasonal illumination. These slow rolls, which are much like a mini parade, are taking place after dusk in Ukiah on Tuesday, Dec. 18 and in Willits on Thursday, Dec. 20.
The two events are open to riders of all ages and skill levels, and will include a the eponymous “slow roll” through various neighborhoods to “ooh and ahh” at the holiday decorations. Attendees should bring a bike, lights, and a helmet for a slow-paced ride through town.
In Ukiah, the “Holiday Lights Chill Roll” (follow the link to mark yourself as attending) will take place on December 18, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., beginning at Alex Thomas Plaza. In Willits, the “Willits Holiday Lights Ride” will take place on December 20, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the Book Juggler will be providing a small gift to cyclists that stop by the store before the event.
