As massive die off of sunflower sea stars devastates North Coast fisheries, international nonprofit lists species as critically endangered

Since 2013, billions of sunflower sea stars have disappeared. Late last year, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature added the species to their Red List, an international catalog of species threatened with extinction.

Local nonprofits & conservation districts fund fire mitigation on private property — applications open

At a town hall meeting over Zoom this evening, Senator Mike McGuire announced major steps forward in his plan to build a 320 mile trail from Marin to Humboldt.

Coyote Valley Band of Pomo request consultation with Cal Fire over Jackson Forest logging plans

Jackson Demonstration State Forest has nine timber harvest plans lined up for the next few years. The Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians wants to ensure Cal Fire’s logging does not harm Tribal ancestral archaeological sites or contribute to climate change.
