Mendocino National Forest reopens to the public
After a historic two-week closure of all the national forests in California, USFS decided to reopen 13 of the 18 forests at midnight Thursday, Sept. 16, a couple days earlier than expected.

257-acre Hopkins Fire attributed to arson, suspect in custody (updated)
Authorities have not identified the suspect, but that individual has reportedly been transported to the Mendocino County Jail.

McCutchan Fire near scene of Rock IC fully contained at 6.9 acres (updated 10:30 p.m.)
The fire started just before 2:30 p.m. and is estimated at roughly 5 acres burning in the Pine Mountain area of Geyser’s Road.
