Emerald Cup to honor Tommy Chong, line-up announces; contest open until Nov. 22

MENDOCINO Co., 11/10/19 — The end of California outdoor cannabis harvest season is approaching, which means it’s getting closer to 16th annual The Emerald Cup, billed as the “longest running sungrown contest in the world,” and known locally as the “one that got away”of cannabis festivals born in Mendocino, but long held in Santa Rosa, this year taking place on December 14 and 15.

This year, the festival reflects on its origins, as small farm booths have fully transitioned into distribution displays. For the farmers out there, you have until November 22 to submit your entries, with even more categories than before. The festival has also announced it’s full line-up, including “DJ Snoopadelic (the alter ego of legendary Doggfather and Merry Jane founder Snoop Dogg), Santigold, Steel Pulse, The Polish Ambassador, The Expendables, The Movement, Con Brio and Chali 2na,” a plethora of speakers and workshops, the Regenerative Farming Award, which so far has featured well-known Emerald Triangle farmers, and Tommy Chong as the recipient of the Willie Nelson award.
