UKIAH, CA., 11/10/25 — Road crews are working nights around the Perkins and Orchard streets intersection from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., in addition to daytime construction, the city of Ukiah said Monday.
The city warned that the work will be noisy and said the stretch of good weather will allow crews to “really dig in” on installing new storm drains to reduce flooding during storms.
It’s all part of the city’s ongoing Urban Core Rehabilitation and Transportation Project, funded by Measure Y, utility funds, and the California Department of Transportation’s Local Partnership Program.
Southbound Orchard Street will have intermittent closures between Clara and Perkins streets, though the Pear Tree Shopping Center will remain open and accessible. Smith Street is also receiving its first layer of pavement today.
The city advises drivers to allow extra time, watch for pedestrians and construction workers, and take alternate routes when possible.
