MENDOCINO CO., 5/20/26 — A Willits man who had been released from jail on bail after an alleged standoff against authorities was arrested again last week after having another alleged clash with deputies near Ukiah, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said.
Sheriff’s deputies said they were called around 8:30 p.m. Friday to the 100 block of Ford Road, where a caller reported a man yelling aggressively and blocking access to a parking area with his vehicle. Deputies said they found the man, identified as Justin Greer, 43, in what appeared to be a verbal confrontation with two people.
During the investigation, deputies alleged Greer showed signs of intoxication, including erratic behavior, rapid mood changes, hyperactive movements and delayed responses, the Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
Deputies alleged Greer repeatedly refused commands and attempted to leave after being told he was not free to leave due to further investigation. When they moved to arrest him, they alleged he resisted and used physical force before being taken into custody.
Deputies later learned Greer had been released from Mendocino County Jail on bail following an earlier arrest tied to alleged felony offenses.
In that earlier case in March, deputies were dispatched to a property off state Highway 162 after a caller reported hearing gunshots and a man yelling, “Did I kill you?” followed by an unknown response from a woman. Deputies searched the approximately 15-acre property and found a trailer where movement was seen inside.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Greer later emerged from the trailer carrying a shotgun, dropped it and retreated back inside while a woman, identified as Annette Pastrana, 43, remained inside. More law enforcement, fire and medical personnel responded, and members of a SWAT team assisted during negotiations.
Greer allegedly threatened to release dogs on deputies if they did not leave. After obtaining a search warrant, deputies said they determined Greer was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Greer and Pastrana later exited and were taken into custody.
Authorities recovered three firearms and multiple rounds of live and spent ammunition from the trailer.
