MENDOCINO Co., 10/14/20 — Forward progress has been stopped on a fire that began in the vicinity of Orr Springs Road and Wellmar Drive in the Ukiah area, and fire crews are making good progress on placing containment lines around the blaze. Crews are currently mopping up around the perimeter, and are expected to lift the evacuations and road blocks shortly.
The fire initially threatened structures, and prompted evacuations, including in the Pinoleville area, that were issued through a reverse 911 call from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, as well as via door to door evacuations. A temporary road block is in place on Orr Springs Road and you should avoid the area if possible as fire crews are still working. However, the evacuations and road blocks are expected to be lifted shortly, based on scanner traffic.
As of shortly before 3 p.m., reports indicate that there is an RV that was fully engulfed by the fire, but due to the fast response, it is unclear if any additional structures were damaged.
