WILLITS, CA 1/25/18 — The City of Willits has appointed a new city manager, Stephanie Garrabrant-Sierra.

“Willits City Council Appoints New City Manager
During last night’s Willits City Council meeting, the Council unanimously appointed Stephanie Garrabrant- Sierra as the New City Manager. Garrabrant- Sierra will take the staff leadership reins from Interim City Manager Bob Perrault on March 15, 2018. Ms. Garrabrant- Sierra’s appointment concludes an extensive recruitment process that resulted in a total of 31 applications submitted by candidates from across the Western United States. The list of candidates was narrowed to eight of the most qualified with the Council interviewing six of the eight. Ms. Garrabrant- Sierra was at the top of the list.
Mayor Madge Strong is enthusiastic about Ms. Garrabrant- Sierra’s appointment as the City’s new City Manager. Strong states: “Not only is Ms. Garrabrant- Sierra well qualified but she is also an excellent fit for our small, rural town, given her team- building approach to management.”
Ms. Garrabrant- Sierra has an extensive background in both the public and private sectors. Most recently she served as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Tracy where she functioned as the City’s Chief Operating Officer. Prior to the City of Tracy Ms. Garrabrant- Sierra served as the Administrative Services Director for the City of Alameda. In addition to the Cities of Tracy and Alameda, She managed infrastructure contracts for Texas Parks and Wildlife Division and was a Risk Manager for the City of Oakland. Interspersed between her government appointments Ms. Garrabrant- Sierra opened and operated a private law practice where she specialized in housing, land use, construction and business law.
Ms. Garrabrant- Sierra has a BA in Political Science from University of California,
Santa Barbara and a law degree (Juris Doctor) from University of California at Berkeley.
“I’m excited to begin my role as the City Manager of Willits,” states Garrabrant-Sierra. “Willits is a beautiful community with small-town charm, and I truly feel right at home in this City. I look forward to serving the residents of Willits and carrying out the vision of the City Council.
According to the contract approved by the council Ms. Garrabrant-Sierra will earn an annual salary of $120,000 plus fringe benefits.”
