The article discusses allegations that the local Sheriff’s Department is undertaking voters suppression efforts amongst the Hmong community in Siskiyou County, which has now resulted in a lawsuit. Kemp writes:
The Daily Beast, which merged with Newsweek previously, wrote a scathing article on the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s recent attempt to stop voter fraud/intimidate minority voters (views differ widely on what occurred). The Hmong community, which is widely viewed as having moved to the area to grow marijuana, is sueing Siskiyou County.
