Mendocino National Forest issues fire restrictions starting August 15

The restrictions were put in place due to increased lightning and fire potential.

Only $2 per cord, minimum purchase 10 cords, maximum 12.

Forest supervisors say cutting your own Christmas tree creates special memories and benefits forest ecology.

Need some firewood? Free permits are available from the Mendocino National Forest now, and an abundance of wood is available.

The 100 mile walk retraces the route along which tribal members were forced to relocate in 1863.
