Low humidity and smoky skies may impact how quickly the blaze is contained.
The burn is occurring on Cal Fire’s own land near the Howard Station.
If you’re in the area you might see smoke.
If you see smoke in Hopland off, this might be why.
MENDOCINO Co., 6/27/17 — CalFire and the Army Crop of Engineers will be conducting a controlled burn near Coyote Valley Dam and Lake Mendocino today at 5pm. The smoke will be visible from Ukiah and Redwood Valley, and the burn will last until about 9pm. Here is their post from Twitter:
