MENDOCINO CO., 11/2/26 — Every figure below comes from state, federal or county records covering 2025 or 2026.
Voters: Mendocino County had 53,969 registered voters as of Oct. 19, 2026, 110 more than on Oct. 20, 2025. Over the same period, the number of county residents eligible to vote fell by 1,378. The two figures are measured differently: the registration total counts names on the county’s voter rolls, which can include people who have moved away or died but have not yet been removed, while the eligible-resident figure is a state population estimate. Mendocino ranks 37th among California’s 58 counties in the share of eligible residents registered to vote, and second in the share of voters who registered as Green Party members,, only behind Humboldt County in the state.
Wine grapes: Wineries paid an average of $1,676 a ton for Mendocino County wine grapes in 2025, compared with $6,636 for Napa County grapes and $986 for California wine grapes overall. Mendocino cabernet sauvignon averaged $1,819 a ton; Napa cabernet sauvignon, $8,645. Mendocino growers reported 16,643 acres of wine grapes standing in 2025 and 37 acres planted that year.
Liquor licenses: Mendocino County had 154 winegrower licenses and 10 beer manufacturer licenses as of June 30, 2026. It has 625 liquor licenses of all kinds, or 7.1 per 1,000 county residents, compared with 2.3 per 1,000 Californians and 26.6 per 1,000 Napa County residents. That ranks Mendocino seventh among California’s 58 counties in liquor licenses per resident.
Cannabis: As of Nov. 1, 2026, 422 state cannabis cultivation licenses were active in Mendocino County, third among California counties. As of April 2026, 43% of the quarterly county cannabis business tax returns due for 2025 had not been filed. The Sheriff’s Office says it and state Fish and Wildlife officers destroyed more than 163,000 marijuana plants in the county in 2025 and seized more than 29,000 pounds of processed cannabis. They say they also documented about 675 Fish and Game Code violations, which the Sheriff’s Office calls more than any other region in California.
