FORT BRAGG, CA., 10/11/26 — There are 14 state measures on the Nov. 3 ballot. Mail ballots went out last week. On Monday night, CalMatters will serve food at Fort Bragg Town Hall and talk the measures through with anyone who comes.

CalMatters is a statewide nonprofit newsroom. Its free workshop runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at Town Hall, 363 N. Main St.

The signup form reads: “Come eat, learn, and connect with neighbors (not necessarily in that order!) at a free proposition workshop with CalMatters.” It asks people to sign up “so we have enough nosh.”

The form also asks which measures people most want to talk about. The event listings don’t say which measures the workshop will cover or who will lead it.

Here are a few of the measures that might be covered:

Proposition 1 would allow bonds for affordable housing programs. Proposition 3 would extend a tax on high incomes to give schools and healthcare permanent funding. Proposition 39 would bar citizens from voting unless they show a government-issued ID. Proposition 40 would charge a one-time tax on some taxpayers. Proposition 43 would limit voters’ power to raise money for local government services.

CalMatters says it’s holding more than 35 free events like this around the state before the election. Fort Bragg is the only stop in Mendocino County. The closest others are in Kelseyville Wednesday, Oct. 14, and in Eureka Thursday, Oct. 15. Both start at 6 p.m.

Mendocino County mailed ballots to all active registered voters by Oct. 5. If yours hasn’t come by Oct. 15, the county elections office asks you to call 707-234-6819 for a new one.

The last day to register is Oct. 19. If you miss it, you can still register and vote at the county elections office or a polling place through Election Day, according to the state. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 3. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and reach the county by Nov. 10.

The workshop is 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at Fort Bragg Town Hall, 363 N. Main St. It’s free. The sign-up link is on CalMatters’ VotingMatters schedule at calmatters.org.
