FORT BRAGG, CA., 8/5/26 —The family of a woman hit and killed by a vehicle in Fort Bragg last month are raising money for expenses related to her death.
Stephanie Sprague, a 67-year-old Fort Bragg resident, died in the collision on July 23 in the 100 block of Cypress Street. Officers found her unresponsive and lying in the roadway, and she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Fort Bragg police.
Sprague was hit while walking her dog, her family said on a GoFundMe account created last week that said “her sudden passing has left her children, family, and friends heartbroken and facing many unexpected responsibilities and expenses.”
The account had raised more than $2,200 as of Tuesday for what the family said are “cremation and memorial expenses, travel and transportation costs for family, the handling of her belongings and estate, and other immediate expenses related to her passing.”
The account is seeking to raise $4,500 that would be managed by Sprague’s son, according to the GoFundMe.
Police said the driver who hit Sprague was a man in a 2021 GMC Sierra heading west on Cypress Street when the collision occurred. He stayed on the scene afterward and cooperated with investigators.
The fatal collision was the first and only one so far in Fort Bragg this year, according to police.
