FORT BRAGG, CA., 7/20/26 — A sick cruise ship passenger was evacuated by helicopter 45 miles off Humboldt Bay to a Fort Bragg hospital, the U.S. Coast Guard said Saturday.
The twin-engine MH-65 rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Humboldt Bay hoisted the 51-year-old woman and transported her to Adventist Health Mendocino Coast, the Coast Guard said.
The Carnival Luminosa, with a capacity of 2,260 passengers, requested a medevac for a passenger with signs of a stroke about 5:10 p.m. Thursday, the Coast Guard said. The woman was reportedly in stable condition.
True story. I am glad somebody got it. I work at the hospital and don’t report on anything there, but it was cool how they did this and it is just another proof of how essential the Coast hospital is.
What’s with Humbolt hospitals? They suck so bad that Ft. Bragg was a better option?
