UKIAH, CA., 06/29/26 — The Ukiah City Council will consider fee increases for recreational programs, sports, municipal pools, the Grace Hudson Museum and more at its regular meeting Wednesday.

The City Council conducts an annual review of the fees for Ukiah’s community services department, which provides several types of recreation in the city. According to the staff report presented to the council, the fee increase recommendations are the result of analyzing existing fees, operating costs and service levels, as well as comparing fee schedules with similar facilities and programs in other agencies around the state to align with industry standards.

The staff report also said many facility rental fees have not increased in the past decade while the cost of running these facilities has “risen significantly.”

The agenda packet for the council meeting details proposed fee increases for the Ukiah Valley Conference Center, municipal pools, entry fees and room rates for the Grace Hudson Museum and youth sports program fees.

The meeting starts at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Ukiah Civic Center at 300 Seminary Ave.

    1. That’s insane. But what else would you expect from the city that has consistently punished kids for being kids for at least 30 years. Growing up here, it always felt like no matter where we were, we were expected to be someplace else.

    2. yes..but then the commoners would come out of the woodwork.. maybe even some of the lower class folk would leave the house and disrupt the illusion that we don’t support the idea of a “kingdom”..

  1. Pool access for kids should be free or a token amount. Pay for it with some of the salaries of the fat cats at the top. Kids need stuff to do.

  2. god fobid the cost of living fall below the delightfull state average.. and we must be sure to manifest the conditions that keep those unsightly low income folks at home… we must keep up the appearances..maintain social hierarchy… “the No Kings Kingdom of Hypocrisy” where cash is the puppet leader and the key to keeping social seperation..

  3. Time to cut administrative costs and salaries, not to raise fees on the payors. You can’t get blood from a stone.
