MENDOCINO CO., 4/14/26 — This Friday, Consolidated Tribal Health Project will break ground on a new 14,000-square-foot behavioral health and dental facility in Redwood Valley. The new facility will help expand access to care for Native and rural communities in Mendocino County and strengthen access to culturally responsive care.

The facility will support intensive outpatient therapy and medication-assisted treatment. The second floor’s 16 dental workspaces will address the community’s growing demand for dental services, including providing preventative care.

The project is funded by state, tribal and private investment, including more than $9 million from California’s Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program, and up to $9 million in federal New Markets Tax Credit financing. A $100,000 grant from the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation helped support design costs for the facility, an example of the importance of intertribal partnership in improving access to care, according to health project spokespeople. Governed by eight Tribal communities, the project has provided culturally affirming care for more than 40 years.
