MENDOCINO CO., 3/9/26 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture is accepting nominations for three seats on its Tribal Advisory Committee, a group that advises the agriculture secretary on how federal agriculture programs affect tribal communities.

The committee brings together tribal leaders and experts to provide input on issues such as farming, forestry, food systems, and rural development on tribal lands.

The panel has 11 members in total. Eight are appointed by Congress and three are chosen by the agriculture secretary. Those selected through the current process will serve three-year terms expected to begin this spring.

Those interested in serving must be nominated by a federally recognized tribe, a Tribal organization or another group that works with Tribal communities, such as an intertribal organization, university or community lending group. Individuals cannot nominate themselves.

Complete nomination packages are due March 31. More information about eligibility and application requirements is available https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/03/05/2026-04387/tribal-advisory-committee-notice-of-solicitation-for-nominations.
