FORT BRAGG, CA., 1/16/26 — A section of downtown Main Street, a.k.a. state Highway 1, between Redwood Avenue and Pine Street will be closed overnight Tuesday, Jan. 20, and Wednesday, Jan. 21, for construction related to the California Middle Mile Project, which is installing broadband in the city.
Construction crews will install a four-mile segment of underground infrastructure between the Simpson Lane roundabout and the city’s northern boundary. Work is underway from both the north and south ends of town to reduce disruptions in the downtown area.
Downtown work will take place at night and will include lane closures with traffic control along Main Street. No-parking signs will be posted on Main and Laurel streets between Main Street and the first alley.
Street and surface restoration will begin immediately after conduit and vault installation, weather permitting.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and exercise caution in the area.
