WILLITS, CA., 12/21/25 – Roadways flooded in Willits on Sunday as a winter storm brought heavy rain to the area.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for Willits on Sunday morning amid concerns about rising waterways, a forecast that was later borne out as rainfall intensified. The area is forecast to receive between 1 and 3 inches of rain through Monday, with higher totals possible at higher elevations.

Floodwater covers the parking lot at Mendo Mill in Willits, with standing water surrounding vehicles, walkways and landscaping as shoppers move through the area during a winter storm.

Social media posts and video show flooding along East Commercial Street, likely caused by rapidly rising water levels in Willits Creek.

Fast-moving, muddy floodwater fills Broaddus Creek at Ohl Redwood Grove Park in Brooktrails, flowing through a wooded area and partially submerging tree trunks during a winter storm.

Photos submitted to The Mendocino Voice from reader Ashley Keyser show East Commercial Street was closed at Old River Road due to flooding. However, The Mendocino Voice has not been able to independently confirm official road closure notices from the city or county.

Keyser also captured dramatic photos of Mendo Mill’s parking lot and the front of Mendocino College North County Center campus being inundated with water.

Additional photos also show a storm-swollen Broaddus Creek at Ohl Redwood Grove Park in Brooktrails. The park is also seeing light flooding in its parking lot.

The National Weather Service warns motorists never to attempt to cross flooded roadways, noting that water depth and road conditions can be difficult to judge. Officials emphasize the message: “Turn around, don’t drown.”

Floodwater surrounds the Mendocino College North County Center in Willits, with standing water covering the parking lot and landscaped areas in front of the building during a winter storm.

  1. most of this fglooding could be taken down if fish and game would alow removing trees or bushes that are clogging up the streams ? first take out the sand and graVEL UNDER THE BRIDGES COMMERCIAL MILLCREEK ! SECOND TAKE OUT BRUSH OR SMALL TREES CLOSE TO THE CREEK GETTING EASIER FLOW OF WATER OUT TO THE NORTH !THEN GO OUT TO THE NORTH END OF LITTLE LAKE VALLLEY REMOVE THOSE TREES IN THE CREEK OR LOWER THEM SO WATER CAN GO OUT OF THE VALLEY !
