UKIAH, CA., 10/16/25 –A Ukiah High School security guard was arrested and booked into Mendocino County Jail on Wednesday on suspicion of physically assaulting a student inside a locked classroom, police and school officials said.

According to the Ukiah Police Department, 39-year-old Julian Williams, a resident of Redwood Valley, engaged in a physical altercation Tuesday with a 15-year-old Ukiah High School student by opening a locked classroom and bringing the student inside before allegedly assaulting the student. Police said the student was not injured.

According to a news release from the Police Department, a school resource officer — a member of the department assigned to monitor the high school campus when law enforcement assistance is needed — received reports around 4 p.m. Tuesday from the Ukiah Unified School District that a student had reported being physically assaulted by a district campus supervisor.

The school district uses the term “campus supervisor” for roles like security guards who assist in monitoring students and resolving conflicts.

Police launched an investigation and then arrested Williams, booking him in Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of child abuse and battery on school grounds.

The school district said in a news release that the arrest happened off-campus Wednesday “following allegations that the staff member pushed a student earlier this week.”

The employee was placed on administrative leave and the school district said it is cooperating with the investigation.

“Ukiah Unified strictly prohibits any form of physical aggression toward students and remains committed to maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment for every child,” the district’s statement said.
