UKIAH, CA., 6/9/25 — Three people were arrested in Ukiah this weekend on suspicion of a shooting that severely injured a man, police said Monday.

Officers were called to 1130 South State St. by Talmage Road on Saturday at 12:45 a.m. on a report of a shooting and possible traffic collision.

Police located a 42-year-old man in the parking lot of Taqueria Jalos who had been shot multiple times. The victim was conscious but in shock and bleeding profusely, police said. The man was taken to the hospital and then airlifted out of the county for further medical care.

An investigation revealed that the victim worked at Taqueria Jalos and lived nearby.

Ukiah Police, with the help of the California Highway Patrol, closed off the 1100 block of South State Street and declared the entire block a crime scene. Detectives discovered six .45 caliber shell casings in the restaurant’s parking lot. They also found the victim’s vehicle crashed and abandoned across the street. Police said the vehicle was “riddled with bullet holes” and there was blood inside the car.

Investigators obtained video footage of the parking lot and also spoke to a witness who said a confrontation occurred between the victim’s vehicle and two other vehicles. The witness also heard gunshots. One of the suspect’s vehicles was described as a silver Jeep and the other suspect’s vehicle was a silver sedan. Security cameras helped police identify the license plates of the two vehicles and traced them to a residence in the 1300 block of North Bush Street.

A video from the restaurant parking lot allegedly showed a confrontation between the victim’s vehicle, the Jeep and the sedan in which the suspects’ vehicles allegedly appeared to try and trap the victim’s vehicle in the parking lot. At one point, the sedan could allegedly be seen ramming the victim’s car.

One suspect identified as Raul Mandujano, 38, was allegedly captured on the footage exiting the sedan and approaching the victim’s car with a gun in his right hand. He then allegedly shot the victim multiple times at close range. Mandujano then got back into the sedan, police allege, and was driven off by an unknown driver.

Police allege that the Jeep involved was being driven by Mandujano’s wife, Anna Escamilla, 34, and it also contained a family member named Ma Marin-Mandujano, 49. The Jeep also fled the scene.

Arrest warrants for all three suspects were issued and at 6 p.m. and the Mendo-Lake SWAT team executed the warrants at the North Bush Street residence, taking all three into custody.

A search of the property allegedly uncovered a .45 caliber handgun used on the shooting. Police also say they seized the clothing Mandujano was wearing during the shooting captured on video.

Mandujano was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a firearm,  and personal use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Escamilla and Ma Marin-Mandujano were booked on suspicion of aiding in the commission of a crime.
