MENDOCINO CO., 4/1/25 – A Little River man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of elder abuse and attempted murder, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call on Thursday evening requesting a welfare check in the 41000 block of Little River Airport Road in Little River after the caller heard what they believed were gunshots at their elderly neighbor’s residence.
Deputies arrived at the residence around 10:50 p.m. They were greeted by 58-year-old Ignacio Andrade-Zamora of Little River, who let the deputies into the home to check on the woman the caller was concerned about.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, when deputies entered the home, they noticed that a firearm had been discharged inside. In response, they detained Andrade-Zamora.
A search warrant was obtained by the Sheriff’s Office and further investigation found Andrade-Zamora allegedly assaulted the woman with a firearm. Deputies also located several firearms and accessories.
Deputies requested medical personnel to the scene to aid the woman. She was found to be uninjured, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Andrade-Zamora was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, elder abuse and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is being held at Mendocino County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
