MENDOCINO CO., 11/8/23 – Thanksgiving Day is Thursday, November 28. While some folks enjoy preparing a grand, family-style supper with turkey, gravy and all the fixings, others prefer to let others do the cooking. Or perhaps you’re not too fond of Thanksgiving food (canned cranberry sauce, anyone?). We have a few options for you too! Here’s a list of restaurants open on Thanksgiving in Mendocino County.

Albion 

Ledford House – Enjoy your Thanksgiving paired with ocean views at the Ledford House. The three-course menu includes soup or salad (autumn green salad or roast tomato bisque), an entree (roast turkey, rack of lamb, bouillabaisse or roast vegetable Wellington), and dessert (pumpkin or pecan pie, apple tart tatin or chocolate pot d’crème). Terra Mar Kitchen – Formerly known as the Albion River Inn, Terra Mar Kitchen offers a three-course meal with a choice of soup (winter squash) or salad (apple & pear), entree (roasted turkey, prime rib or a vegan option) and dessert (apple or pumpkin pie and vegan chocolate mousse). Elk   

Greenwood Restaurant – Chef Ryan Seal presents a gourmet five-course prix-fixe tasting menu including a fall greens salad with chicken liver mousse, citrus-cured king salmon, Parker House rolls, huitlacoche ravioli, heritage chicken roulade and apple tart tartine. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten- and dairy-free options are available. Sibo Restaurant – French-trained chef Victor Passalacqua will serve Thanksgiving supper in the oceanside dining room at the Elk Cove Inn’s restaurant, SIBO. Served family-style, the menu includes mains of house-smoked salmon rillettes, roast turkey, baked ham, salmon filet with dill sauce, and crab cakes; side dishes of cornbread, dried fruit stuffing, cranberry sauce, orange and dill relish, green bean casserole, glazed carrots, and gravy. Fort Bragg 

Angelina’s – Hangout with locals at Angelina’s on Thanksgiving. The three meal restaurant and bar will offer hearty food and a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere for an afternoon of dining and drinking. We’re unsure if they have a special Thanksgiving menu or hours, but we’ll update this article when we find out. 400 S. Main St., Fort Bragg, (707) 964-1000.

Asian Fusion – Enjoy a diverse selection of Pan-Asian offerings from the Asian Fusion, a local institution. The family-owned restaurant will offer its full menu, including seafood boils, noodles, curries, soups, rice, salads and more for dining in and take-out. Cucina Verona – Cucina Verona will offer its regular dinner menu of Italian specialties in addition to Thanksgiving specials, including a Fuyu persimmon salad ($16), cider brined and slow roasted turkey with truffle gravy, local mushroom stuffing, mashed potatoes, roasted yams with candied pecans, green bean casserole and cranberry-orange sauce ($36) and pumpkin pie ($12). Denny’s – Who needs turkey when you can enjoy a Moons Over My Hammy egg sandwich or a chicken fried steak? Still need a turkey fix? Enjoy The Super Bird turkey sandwich. 7 a.m.-10 p.m., 901 N. Main St., Fort Bragg, (707) 964-8287, dennys.com.  

Bear’s Pizza and More – Enjoy a delicious take home meal from Bear’s, which has garnered quite a cult following for it’s special meals. For Thanksgiving, Bear’s is offering slow cooked, fork tender roast turkey with gravy, Mitch’s sage, apple and sausage dressing, mashed potatoes, green bean almondine, roasted butternut squash, cranberry orange chutney and a Hawaiian roll with butter. Pecan pie is also included. Pre-order is required, $25 for individuals (plus tax), $45 for dinner for four (plus tax), 1111 C Boatyard Dr., Fort Bragg, (707) 961-0580.

HarborView Bistro & Bar – Enjoy Thanksgiving overlooking the Noyo River at the Noyo Harbor Inn’s restaurant. The five-course meal includes roasted butternut squash soup, harvest salad; a choice of roast turkey, grilled ribeye, pan-seared trout, or stuffed squash; and chocolate lasagnas and pie (pumpkin, pecan or apple) for dessert. KW Saltwater Grill – One of the best kept secrets in Fort Bragg, KW Saltwater Grill usually serves a multi-course meal. We’ll update this listing when the menu is available. The Wharf – If it’s a clear evening, you’ll be thankful for the harbor views when the sun sets at Silver’s at the Wharf. Silver’s menu includes classic seafood dishes including fresh oysters, clam chowder, ceviche, cioppino, calamari steak, and local rock cod entrees. Rock Seas – Join Chef Roxy for a farm-to-table all-you-can-eat organic Thanksgiving dinner showcasing lamb and ham sourced from her farm. All the Thanksgiving fixings will accompany, and vegetarian and gluten-free options are available, as is an optional wine pairing ($20). Guests can also take food to go. Little River 

Heritage House – The contemporary yet romantic Heritage House welcomes guests for Thanksgiving in its ocean and garden view dining room. The four-course meal starts with a choice of appetizer (scallops & shrimp Saint-Jacques or vegetable strudel); a second choice of butternut kuri squash soup or a fall fruit & greens salad; a choice of entree (cider brined turkey with the fixings, prime rib, salmon encroute or vegan portobello Napoleon); and choice of dessert (pumpkin or apple pie, poached pear in red wine). A special kids menu is also available with soup or salad, cheese ravioli, and dessert. Little River Inn – Enjoy a cozy Thanksgiving at the historic Little River Inn. The menu has not been released, but reservations are available. We’ll update this entry when we learn more. Reservations recommended, 2-7 p.m., 7901 CA-1, Little River, (707) 937-5942, littleriverinn.com

Mendocino 

Café Beaujolais – Cozy Café Beaujolais offers its annual Thanksgiving dinner with a three-course meal and all the fixin’s. The meal starts with a choice of butternut squash soup, mussels, crab cakes or spinach salad. Main course offerings include Diestel turkey, braised lamb shank, Pacific Northwest wild salmon and stuffed local delicata squash. Traditional sides will be served with the entrees. Guests also get a choice of desserts: pumpkin or pecan pie and baked apple terrine. Flow – Enjoy Thanksgiving dinner overlooking the headlands at Flow. The three-course meal offers a choice of appetizer (creamy tomato seafood chowder or a fall salad), entree (roasted Willie Bird organic turkey, filet mignon or roasted delicata squash), and dessert (pumpkin-pecan crunch pie or chocolate-cherry bread pudding). Fog Eater Cafe – Get ready for a cozy five-course plant-based feast at the Fog Eater Cafe. Pies are also available for take-out. The menu isn’t available yet, but we’ll update this article when it is. Optional wine and non-alcoholic pairings available. MacCallum House – Chef Alan Kantor welcomes guests for a farm-to-table Thanksgiving supper at the historic MacCallum House. It’s a four-course offering that starts with wild mushroom soup followed by a Fuji apple arugula salad, roasted Mary’s organic turkey with traditional fixings, and pumpkin pastry cream profiteroles for dessert. The Ravens – Celebrate the holiday with an organic, plant-based meal at the Ravens restaurant at Stanford Inn by the Sea. The five-course meal starts with grilled apple & red cabbage pizetta, late garden minestrone and seared maitake salad. Entree choices include encrusted tofu or portobello mushroom, harvest tamale with butternut squash, wild mushroom Wellington and dessert choices of pumpkin pine, candy cap brulee or apple cobbler. Trillium Cafe – – Offering California cuisine in a quaint setting, Trillium offers a three-course meal including a starter, entree and dessert. There is plenty to choose from for meat eaters, pescatarians, vegetarians and gluten-free diners, including wild mushroom and hazelnut paté, pumpkin french onion soup, local Dungeness crab strudel appetizers; organic Diestel turkey with all the fixings, steaks, fish, and eight dessert options including Trillium’s spiced pumpkin pie. The Sea Ranch 

The Sea Ranch Lodge – Head south to the Sea Ranch for a three-course Thanksgiving meal in the modern dining room at the Lodge. Guests have their choice of an appetizer (parsnip & sweet potato soup, chicory salad, seafood chowder, lemon-ricotta gnudi or Dungeness crab cakes), entree (Diestel turkey, halibut, short ribs or butternut squash) and dessert (pumpkin pie, cheesecake or apple crisp). Ukiah

Jyun Kang Vegetarian Restaurant – Ukiah’s premier vegetarian restaurant will be open on Thanksgiving serving up hearty Asian dishes. 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., (707) 468-7966, City of 10,000 Buddhas, 2001 Talmage Rd., Ukiah.   

Star’s Restaurant – Enjoy a special Thanksgiving turkey supper or indulge in one of Star’s signature skillet meals. Star’s is an institution in Ukiah and offers solid diner-style offerings in a casual setting. 115 S. Orchard Ave., Ukiah, (707) 462-1622, starsukiah.com

Willits
