WILLITS, CA., 9/10/24  – A Fort Bragg man was arrested for mail theft on Saturday, says the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office.

During a foot patrol in Willits, deputies saw 29-year-old Andrew Riffle of Fort Bragg in the area. Riffle is on formal probation.

Due to his probation requirements, deputies searched Riffle. During the search, a deputy found mail and checks from various Fort Bragg businesses, the checks totaling over $250,000. The deputy had probable cause to believe that the checks and mail were stolen from business mailboxes.

Riffle was arrested and is being held at Mendocino County Jail with no bail due to his probation agreement.

He has been charged with a felony for stolen property, mail theft and a felony violation of probation.
