WILLITS, 9/24/19 — A single car has gone off the side of the road on Sherwood Road in Brooktrails, killing the occupant of the vehicle. The accident occurred 24000 block of Sherwood Rd. or in the steep climb up to Brooktrails from Willits. Traffic will likely be impeded for some time while authorities deal with the fatality and clear the scene. It appears that the vehicle was only carrying one person.
No word on the name of the person, and the deceased’s identity will most likely not be released until next of kin is notified. The vehicle was identified as a Toyota Tundra, possibly grey.
Several people on the police scanner have confirmed an “1144,” code for a fatality, and the California Highway Patrol incident page, currently reads “fatality.” The dispatcher confirmed that the “coroner’s case” was called at 10:04 p.m.
