UPDATE 5:55 p.m. — Cal Fire has announced that the fire is now fully contained, and was about five acres.
MENDOCINO Co., 8/14/19 — A wildfire, dubbed the Mud Fire, which broke out west of Laytonville, along Branscomb Rd., before 3:45 p.m., was quickly controlled and firefighters have already released off the fixed wing aircraft, and have hose line all the way around the fire. Someone at the Laytonville Fire Department said that it’s now a matter of mopping up the fire.
The fire reached about five or six acres, and was about four miles southwest of Laytonville — or about five miles down Branscomb Rd. The Cal Fire 101 helicopter remains on the scene.
