UPDATE 4:33 p.m. — Readers are reporting that there is no longer much smoke visible. Additionally, the fire was bordered on two sides by water, which aided in quick containment. Crews may remain on scene to assist with “mop-up.”
UPDATE 2:23 p.m. — There are reports from the area that the fire is coming under control thanks to the quick work of firefighters and the especially the aircraft dropping water and retardant.
Cal Fire has revised the estimate of the acreage burned to 5 acres, and are saying that the fire had a moderate rate of spread.

MENDOCINO Co., 7/16/19 — Cal Fire and Potter Valley Fire are currently battling a small vegetation fire in Potter Valley. The fire appears to be burning somewhat east of Eastside Rd. and between Mid-Mountain Rd. and Pine Ave., and began shortly before 2 p.m. Firefighters from Potter Valley Fire as well as the Cal Fire “101 copter” and a tanker plane are responding.
The fire is reported to be about two to three acres in size with a moderate rate of spread. There is still no word on the cause.
