UKIAH, 6/5/19 — A Ukiah man has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon* after he allegedly ran down another man in the street with his car in retaliation for “unwanted sexual advances” on his female companion, according to a statement from the Ukiah Police Department (UPD) today.
The incident took place on Tuesday, June 3, on the 200 block of Brush Street. UPD arrived at the scene shortly after noon to find the victim, a 27 year old white man from Ukiah, bleeding from lacerations to his neck. The victim told officers that he had been run down by the suspect, Kyle Yarnell, a 27 year old white man from Ohio, while walking in a commercial driveway. UPD officers then received a call concerning damage to a vehicle on Ford Road, and subsequently found the suspect along with his female partner.
Further investigation revealed that the incident between the two men allegedly began earlier in the day, when the victim allegedly approached the woman in a Ukiah laundromat with unwanted sexual advances. She reportedly told Yarnell about this exchange, and the two went driving in the Yarnell’s Subaru around the area until the encountered the victim walking in the driveway of a business. Yarnell then allegedly took aim at the victim and hit him “at a high rate of speed,” the victim then collided with the windshield, resulting lacerations to his head and neck, as well as ‘multiple contusions and abrasions on thevictim’s arms and legs.” He reportedly did not stop or exit the Subaru but instead drove away.
Yarnell was taken to Mendocino County jail and charged with California penal code “245(a)(1)”, “assault with a deadly weapon,” with bail was set at $30,000. The victim was taken to the hospital for medical care. Anyone with additional information is asked to call UPD at 707-463-6262.

*Correction: An earlier version of this article mistakenly stated that the suspect had been charged with “vehicular homicide” when in fact the charge is assault with a deadly weapon.
I’m confused. It says vehicular homicide – did the victim succumb to his injuries?
What was the toxicology on Yarnell and the female companion?
