UPDATE 4/30/19 — A small aftershock hit Mendocino this afternoon:

WILLITS, 4/29/19 — A tiny quake, only 2.8, hit inland Mendocino at about 10:04 p.m. tonight, and was felt in the Redwood Valley – Potter Valley area. Though the quake was tiny, it was only half a kilometer, or about a third of a mile, below the surface of the earth and thus may have felt somewhat stronger to people in the immediate vicinity.

The tremor struck only about half a mile west of the much larger temblor that hit late last night, in the hills just west of Tomki Rd, which runs along the bottom a narrow valley at the northern tip of the Redwood Valley area.

There are no reports of any damage.

Adrian Fernandez Baumann is the managing editor of The Mendocino Voice and a founder. He lives in the Willits area and has a dog named Bravo.
