ORIGINAL
MENDOCINO Co., 6/10/18 — A vehicle that went over the side of Hwy. 101 a few miles south of Hopland has been engulfed in flames, causing major injuries and a small wildfire that burned into a nearby vineyard.
The car went at least 50 feet down an embankment — and as of about 8:30 p.m. it appears that traffic is stopped about three miles south of Hopland. It appears that two separate air ambulances have been sent, with at least one of them landing on the highway. This kind of response indicates major injuries, possibly to multiple people, but that’s not yet clear.
The fire spread to a much as a quarter of an acre, but appears to be under control.
We will update.
