  1. I am sorry, but if you believe that John Haschak will do anything to move forward on the Brooktrails 2nd Road . . . well, just remember ol’ Woodhouse. Same one-trick-pony: “I’m friendly and nice, and was on the Willits School Board for all those years; so I must be smart enuf to be Supervisor.” And then remember how he imploded from all the pressure. No surprise; the Willits School District is not really known for its excellent programs, teachers’ wonderful wages, or . . . . yet this is ALL that Haschak has been focusing for the last three decades?? Please. Run him for Trustee at Mendocino College … but not BOS! Not again!!

All the other candidates are nice and all, but face it: how many BOS Agendas have they actually slogged all the way through? How many binders of background info are they really feeling like reading every night? Every Week. Every Month. Ever Year? The 3rd needs a local who has enough “Historic Memory” to cut through all the “glad-handling” and “non-sense” and get to the real meat of any situation.. . . and remember, Johnny Pinches was always be able to listen and create outcomes that often turned “dilemmas” into “3-2 decisions” 😉

So please remember, right out the gate in January 2019, two minutes after the new Supes are sworn in, The Gavel will be handed to the Chair . . .and the rotation schedule calls for the 3rd District Supervisor’s “turn” , as The Chair, to create the Agendas and say (for instance) how minutes speakers are allowed, ect. I sure would like Shawna to sit in for a couple years and watch & learn the process, so that she will be Really to carry the ball in the Future . . . but with all the PG&E, Roads, Fire/Measure V, Housing, Broadband, Mental Health/Measure B, etc all IMPORTANT Issue(s) needing Attention Immediately! YIKES!

Well . . . imho, at least . . . Pinches will be able to stun the young bucks in the 4th & 5th with his auction-calling skills; and if Williams wins the 5th, those three would be capable of a lot, quickly. Remember the years Charles Peterson & Pinches teamed up back in the 90’s?

But, If roads are ALL that you care about, you might be better with Mike Horger. At least he knows those ridges like the back of his hand, and can tell the difference between a culvert and a rolling dip! LOL

  2. John Haschak is the best candidate in the race. Alongside his long-time residence, local advocacy works, and teaching in the Willits community, Haschak has managed a multimillion-dollar budget for the California Teachers Association. Addressing C. Swan’s weird attempt to equivocate Haschak and Woodhouse, as far as I know, Woodhouse was never a Willits School Board member and implying that there is any reason to believe there’s a resemblance between the two is inaccurate and inappropriate.

But, if we want to talk about the past, you know who John Pinches resembles? JOHN PINCHES! Why would we hand the reigns of the county back to someone (now in the sunset of their career) who, in his prime, wasn’t up to the task of providing thoughtful and informed governance? The answer is simple: We shouldn’t! John Pinches represents a bygone era. Its time for new leadership at the county and John Haschak is the clear choice!

  3. L. Buc,

Last time I checked, the CTA has even worse problems re: funding pensions’ accounts than the county does. You might want to check out yer facts. The California Teachers Association is a sorry mess, and sadly being on the BOS requires more than offering punch and cookies every quarter to help the “unfortunate” workers understand that fact.

Haschak has done nothing but be a “place holder at the table” to appease the masses, not create change! And every year there is a smaller budget, as even parents WUSD leave to seek private schools and/or charter schools that have more dynamic leadership in their classrooms.

Frankly, I’d run the former Supe who was the first in the County to get Local Grass-Fed Range, Organic Beef on the Menu at Little Chief Drive-Up in Laytonville. Who also made sure there was not a National Guard Post in Round Valley. Who also worked across the table to craft a win-win in the Timber Wars, and still asks “If Sonoma County sells water to Marin County, does that mean they have “extra” water?”

Yup, I’d be interested in Branscomb&Harwood&Padula(?) Mill BioChar and Small Dimension Mill opportunities clearing up MCR’s killed oaks (MeasureV) problem (and putting a lot of guys at work at better than teachers’ wages. . . .

I’d choose the candidate who is ring-wise already. The one grew up working with other real men who actually know what it would take to build some tidy little houses along the Skunk line that young family could afford. Yup. Rather than going’ with the hopeful . . .I’d focus on the vision to ride the train to Willits or Fort Bragg for work, school and/or shopping and get the next generation out of their cars!

And so far, Pinches is the only one in the 3rd who can even thinks along these lines. Because he actually knows the entire county and can see the difference between “making nice” and being firmly in an opinion or a course of action in spite of difficulty, opposition, or failure: persisting with policies that will create real jobs for the future.

Unless of course, you dream of the entire district turned into one carnival and festival after another to lure cheap dime “tourists” who end up in our jails and under our bridges seeking rainbows and unicorns that CA Teachers promised they would have if they would just dream and hope a little longer on their vision boards….

Please, use your vote carefully so we don’t end up with an other undertaker or rockstar or a “nice school board trustee” again. Yes, they all had “name recognition”, but it takes more than that to reboot and get the entire BOS go forward 🙂 It’s time for some grit again.
