MENDOCINO Co. 1/23/2017 — Two recent court proceedings have been delayed. The felony assault trial of Charles Reynolds, 32, was scheduled for today but has been postponed to an as-yet undeclared date. The preliminary hearing for Steven Ryan, 62, who is charged with murder, was originally scheduled for last week but is now due to take place on January 27.
Reynolds is charged with felony assault with a special allegation of inflicting great bodily injury to Kenneth Fisher, 29. Fisher died after Reynolds allegedly punched him once in the parking lot of Boomer’s bar in Laytonville on August 28, 2016. The trial was scheduled to take place on January 23 in the Mendocino County Superior Court in Ukiah, but has been postponed to a date that has not yet been announced. Reynolds is represented by Ukiah attorney Macci Morse-Baldock.
Ryan is charged with the murder of De’Shaun Davis, 20, with a special allegation enhancement of using a firearm. The incident occurred outside Ryan’s home on East Perkins Street in Ukiah on November 21, 2016. At the time, Ryan called the sheriff and said he had shot Davis in self defense. Ryan, who pled not guilty last month, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on January 20. That date has been moved to January 27, 10:00am in Dept H at the Mendocino County Superior Court in Ukiah. In previous court appearances, Ryan has been represented by the public defender’s office.
Both cases are being prosecuted by the district attorney’s office. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
