MENDOCINO CO., CA., 6/11/26 — Another round of results released Thursday morning from the Mendocino County elections office for last week’s statewide primary show the leader for the county District 3 supervisor race has switched from Eric Hart to Buffey Wright Bourassa.
Incumbent Supervisor Ted Williams is still in the lead for District 5 and the bond measure for Mendocino College is not showing enough approval to pass still.
Initial results released after polls closed on Election Day showed Hart to be in the lead for District 3, which covers the Covelo, Laytonville and Willits areas, but now Wright Bourassa has 1,029 votes to Hart’s 976, as of the results that came out just before noon Thursday. Among the other candidates vying for the position that current Supervisor John Haschak did not seek reelection for, Clay Romero received 758 votes and Russell Green got 413 votes.
Williams, the incumbent supervisor for District 5, covering Ukiah to Mendocino to Gualala and over to Hopland, leads with 1,795 votes, Kevin Evans has 667 votes and Todd Lyly has 535 votes.
Measure A, a bond measure that would levy a parcel tax on properties in the Mendocino-Lake Community College District to pay for $98 million in bonds to fund repairs and program updates for Mendocino College, has more than 53% yes votes, but not the 55% required to pass.
The official election results will be finalized by the county within 30 days after Election Day and sent to the Secretary of State for certification.

The bond issue makes one wonder how much better the college would be doing had they taken up Bob Harrah’s offer of free land if that bulit the college in Willits.
Can you say Democracy Now, mail out all ballots someone sign them and mail them in. No one ever asked why she and her cohorts are still trying to turn over Sherwood Valley elections so she can get back on the council. Democracy Now will not accept the vote, and insist on mail in ballots. People why is it that, we can’t have an ID vote. You can not cash a check without ID.
Ask the average question, why did her and her cohorts try to drive Sherwood Valley in the dirt. We have had two elections and they will not accept the results.
Democracy Now .
Damn People.
As you well know James, most tribal government elections have the same issues as the white man elections.
Studies have shown…
What the hell are you talking about? This doesn’t even make sense! Also, there is no connection to tribal elections and those for County Supervisor.
There are still some ballots to be counted, but Eric Hart and Buffey Bourassa will be headed for a runoff in November 2026 for Third District Supervisor. They are only separated by 53 votes. This race will be driven by Experience and Education versus a Female, Native American who has worked for the County. Stay tuned in. Candidates and their qualifications matter.
Oh my! “Experience & Education”
We’ve all seen where that has landing this county. You seem threatened by a “female”?
Vote for Real County Residents with a family History which began in Mendocino County, not an outsider who moves here and thinks he knows what is best like Eric Hart!
I voted for Russ Green! I can’t stand that “No Kings” radical anti-American activist Eric Hart! I sure hope Buffy Wright Bourassa wins over the Activist No Kings Nutjob Hart in the runoff!
Mendocino County has some loud activists, but we also have a lot of families and normal working people—loggers, farmers, delivery drivers, tradespeople, ranchers, and small business owners—who do not identify with the ideals and values of “No Kings” protestors like Eric Hart. District 3 (Willits, Laytonville, Covelo) needs practical leadership that supports hard-working families, not more performative activism that divides us and pushes extreme agendas.
Eric Hart has thrown himself into the “No Kings” movement—protests that frame our elected leadership (especially after strong democratic elections) as some kind of tyranny. These events in Willits and around the state aren’t about patriotism or fixing real problems like roads, wildfires, housing costs, or keeping fentanyl out of our communities. They’re anti-American spectacles that bash law enforcement, cheer open-border policies that hurt rural counties like ours, and treat anyone who wants secure borders, fiscal responsibility, or traditional American values as the enemy.
While Hart lists community involvement on his resume (Fire Safe Council, Rotary, etc.), his alignment with radical activist energy shows where his priorities really lie. Endorsed by the Democratic Party, Inland Mendocino Democratic Club, and SEIU unions, he’s part of the same crowd that’s turned county government into a slow, bureaucratic mess that frustrates working families trying to build homes, run businesses, or just get by.
Hard-working people in Mendocino don’t want a supervisor who marches in protests that undermine the rule of law and American sovereignty. We need someone focused on:
Fixing our broken county systems so permits get approved and projects move forward.
Real public safety and fighting the drug crisis that’s devastated families (remember the fentanyl tragedies hitting our area hard).
Supporting local agriculture, timber, tourism, and trades instead of activist red tape.
Fire safety and infrastructure that actually helps rural off-grid and working properties like so many of us have.
Buffy Wright Bourassa brings real experience from the Sheriff’s Office Restorative Justice Program and a grounded perspective as a local with ties to the Sherwood Valley Band of Pomo Indians—someone who understands our communities, not just corporate consulting and protest lines.
Working families in District 3 should be certain not to vote for Eric Hart in November. His “No Kings” radicalism represents the kind of divisive, out-of-touch activism that’s already made county government feel like an obstacle instead of a partner. We’ve got enough of that. Let’s choose experience and common sense over more protests. Vote for Buffy!
One thing I can’t understand, is why would Ted Williams still continue to be in office. I can’t believe that you guys keep electing and electing and electing corrupt officials! Why is that?
