MENDOCINO CO., 6/9/26 — Deputies in Mendocino County arrested a man in Fort Bragg on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and having narcotics, the Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
Little River resident Jesse Peters, 53, was pulled over on Thursday night after deputies saw him in his car and knew he had a felony warrant out for his arrest, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Peters was stopped on South Main Street by Cypress Street in Fort Bragg and he was taken into custody. As deputies were securing the handcuffs, Peters allegedly told them he had a firearm in a shoulder holster. A records run on the gun showed it to be stolen out of Modesto in 2017, the Sheriff’s Office alleges.
Suspected methamphetamine was also allegedly found on his person.
Based on probable cause, deputies conducted a search of Peters’ vehicle. Inside, they allegedly located a loaded 12-gauge shotgun under the back seat, additional ammunition, and more suspected meth.
Peters had at least one prior felony conviction and multiple prior drug-related convictions, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Peters was arrested, transported to the Mendocino County Jail, and booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, having narcotics while armed, being in possession of hard drugs with a previous conviction, and carrying a concealed weapon, among other crimes.
