MENDOCINO CO., 6/1/25 – Campers can now leave cash and checks at home when booking a campsite at more than a dozen Mendocino National Forest campgrounds, forest officials said last week.
The new Scan & Pay program allows campers to scan a QR code at a campground kiosk that opens the Recreation.gov site and takes the camper to the payment page for that particular campground.
If there is no cell service available, the payment will show “pending” and be processed once reception is available.
A confirmation code will be provided, which must be written down and displayed on the car, truck or RV’s dashboard.
The new Scan & Pay program is available at Davis Flat, Deer Valley, Dixie Glade, Fouts, Howard Lake, Howard Meadows, Letts Lake, Little Doe, Mill Creek, Mill Valley, North Fork, Penny Pines and South Fork campgrounds.
Campers must have the Recreation.gov app on their phone to use the service. Cash and checks will still be accepted.
