Ukiah asks for another year on old dump; garbage customers will help cover $21.1 million

UKIAH, CA., 10/29/26 — Ukiah is supposed to finish closing its old landfill on Vichy Springs Road by Saturday. It won’t. The city is sending a letter Wednesday asking for one more year.

“I’m looking at a draft letter to extend that right now,” Tim Eriksen, the city’s public works director, said in a phone interview Wednesday. “So we will be sending that out today.”
