POINT ARENA, CA., 10/7/26 — South coast voters can return their ballots at an official Mendocino County drop box at Point Arena City Hall, 451 School St., starting Tuesday, the city announced. The box is open 24 hours a day through 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3.

The county elections office mailed ballots to all active registered voters by Monday, Oct. 5, according to a Sept. 29 release from Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder Katrina Bartolomie. Voters who haven’t received a ballot by Oct. 15 should call the office at 707-234-6819 for a replacement.

City Hall is open Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. but ballots can be dropped into the box when the building is closed.

Two City Council seats are up for four-year terms, and the county’s candidate list shows two names: Joshua Karlin-Resnick and Mayor Barbara Burkey. Councilmember Anna Dobbins didn’t seek reelection, the city said in August.

Point Arena’s Measure C would raise its transient occupancy tax, the bed tax visitors pay at hotels, inns and vacation rentals, from 12% to 14%. The council put it on the ballot June 16. The increase would take effect April 1, 2027, and is expected to bring in about $35,833 a year for the general fund, according to the city’s public notice. Visitors also pay a separate 1% county bed tax.

The last day to register and receive a regular ballot in the mail is Oct. 19. After that, voters can still register through Election Day. The elections office, 501 Low Gap Road, Room 1020, Ukiah, will also be open Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3.
