UKIAH, CA., 9/21/26 — A Ukiah man is in the Mendocino County Jail on $250,000 bail after sheriff’s deputies say he pointed a rifle at his neighbors Thursday evening on East Side Calpella Road and fired it.
Skyler Blue Dausman, 43, was booked at 11:25 p.m. Thursday, according to a Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office release issued Monday and the booking log the office publishes online. He was booked on suspicion of assault with a firearm, criminal threats, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, being a felon in possession of a firearm and of ammunition, being armed during a felony, and resisting a peace officer. The resisting count is a misdemeanor. The other six are felonies.
The call came in at 7:07 p.m. A woman told dispatchers a neighbor had brandished a rifle at her and her husband as one of them arrived home, the release said. They backed into their house and heard gunshots. She said she believed he had shot at her or at the house.
The couple are a 60-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman, both of Ukiah. Deputies learned they had “ongoing civil issues” with Dausman, the release said. The release doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt or whether any shots hit the house.
Deputies called out to Dausman at his home and got no answer, the release said. They learned prior convictions barred him from having guns or ammunition. At 8:29 p.m. the sheriff’s office sent a Nixle alert telling people to avoid East Side Calpella Road from the 5500 block north to Marina Drive. It canceled the alert nine minutes later.
Dausman came out after about an hour, the release said. He resisted deputies but was taken into custody “without further incident.” Deputies from other parts of the county, California Highway Patrol officers and sheriff’s detectives also responded.
Deputies searched Dausman’s home under a warrant and seized evidence. The release doesn’t say what they found.
Booking charges are set by the arresting agency. The Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office decides what charges, if any, to file.
