UPDATE 8/1/26 — A wildfire in Mendocino County’s Hopland area, southeast of Ukiah, jumped to 200 acres Saturday afternoon and was expected to affect U.S. Highway 101, Cal Fire said.
The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office issued a wildfire evacuation order in the area of Feliz Creek Road.
The Feliz Fire was first reported at about 40 acres around 3:40 p.m. It was 0% contained as of 5:12 p.m., Cal Fire said.
The Sheriff’s Office updated its alert with a wildfire evacuation warning for downtown Hopland and Saracina Vineyards west to Hewlett Sturtevant Road. It advised people to be ready to evacuate at any moment.
A temporary evacuation point was established for residents displaced by the fire at the Mendocino County Office of Education, 2240 Old River Road in Ukiah, Mendocino County said on social media.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
