MENDOCINO CO., 8/31/26 – Two people were found dead inside a vehicle that went off a hillside Sunday afternoon in Mendocino County near Willits, the California Highway Patrol’s Ukiah office confirmed.
The crash was reported at 3:57 p.m. Aug. 30 near the 1300 block of Mariposa Creek Road and Bear Canyon Road, outside Willits.
A CHP spokesperson said the vehicle was located about 150 feet down the hillside, resting on its roof. The two occupants were found dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation and in its early stages, CHP said. The victims’ names will be released once the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office contacts the families.
