A rare breath of fresh air was experienced in the chambers of Ukiah’s City Hall on August 26 as commissioners acted independently from city government influences. Gratefully, the Planning Commission denied the City of Ukiah’s resolution for Pre-zoning, General Plan Amendments, Land Use Element and Ordinance incorporating Mendocino County’s Inland Zoning Code for 1,485 parcels.
Commissioners Devery Montano, Mark Hilliker, Alex de Grassi and Rick Johnson, we thank you for your thoughtful review of the 715 pages of newly released annexation documents. We also appreciate your insightful comments and patience in listening to the many passionate speakers living within Ukiah and outside of the city limits who expressed their dissatisfaction with the city’s annexation plan. Yes, the city does need to go back to the drawing board!
