UKIAH, CA., 8/10/2026 — Engine problems were what led a plane to crash land onto North Main Street in downtown Ukiah on Friday, though the two people and two dogs aboard the aircraft managed to escape without major injury, police confirmed over the weekend. 

The PZL-104 Wilga plane was flying north of Ukiah around 10:30 a.m. Friday when the pilot realized the plane was having engine troubles and could not make it to Ukiah Municipal Airport. The plane then hit a power line while coming down in the 300 block of North Main Street, according to Ukiah police. 

Nothing besides the power line was hit, and the pilot, passenger and two dogs were able to get out of the aircraft with minor to no injuries, police said. 

Crews were able to repair the power line and restore power to the affected buildings, and the company Sierra Pacific Aviation helped to remove the aircraft from the roadway, according to police. 

The Federal Aviation Administration said it is investigating the cause and details of the crash.
