FORT BRAGG, CA., 8/28/26 — A community BBQ where kids can eat free will follow the parade at Fort Bragg’s Paul Bunyan Days on Labor Day, the city announced Thursday.
A tradition in Fort Bragg since 1939, Paul Bunyan Days is a festival that is “always lumberjack rowdy” and named after the “larger-than-life logger,” according to the event website. The site says it’s the oldest festival on the Mendocino Coast.
On the afternoon of Sept. 7, Fort Bragg city officials, including the mayor and city manager, will serve food at the Paul Bunyan Community BBQ at Bainbridge Park after the parade. Children under 18 eat for free, and adults pay $5 for a hot dog, $8 for a hamburger and $10 for a pulled pork sandwich.
The BBQ event will feature live music, including the Cal Poly Humboldt Marching Lumberjacks, plus there will be cornhole to play.
Noyo Fish Company is the sponsor of this year’s BBQ and proceeds from the event will go toward improvements to Bainbridge Park and support the Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce.
The parade route runs from the corner of Main and Pine Streets, east to North Franklin Street, then south on North Franklin to Oak Street, then Oak to Main Street and lastly Main to Pine Street. The parade exits west on Pine Street finally turning north on West Street.
The community BBQ will be from 1-5:30 p.m. and the parade starts at noon.
