MENDOCINO CO., 7/15/26 — A man was rescued after their vehicle went off the roadway and landed 50 yards down an embankment in Hopland on Wednesday, Ukiah California Highway Patrol said. 

At 2:15 p.m., the CHP, Hopland Volunteer Fire Department and Cal Fire responded to a Ford Focus that was overturned down an embankment south of the green bridge in Hopland, the CHP said. 

The Hopland Volunteer Fire Department said the driver was removed from his vehicle and carried up the embankment on a stokes basket, or an industrial-grade stretcher used in rescues, and carried by first responders from several agencies with the help of a line and winch. 

According to the CHP, it was a solo crash and the driver had minor to moderate injuries and was taken to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley.  

The CHP said they are investigating the cause of the crash.
