MENDOCINO CO., CA., 6/26/26 â€” The deadline is approaching for the photo contest that will decide which images from local photographers will be displayed in the new Mendocino County Superior Courthouse when construction of the building is complete in 2027.

The Mendocino County Superior Court announced earlier this year that it would be facilitating a photo contest through the end of July. Photographers within the county are encouraged to submit photos in seven categories:

  • Mendocino Coastline
  • Mendocino Redwoods
  • Significant Mendocino Landmarks
  • Tribal Communities in Mendocino
  • People of Mendocino County, Past and Present
  • Wildlife – Birds, Marine Life, Animals
  • Mendocino Agriculture and Industry

Each photo submitted should have a title and include the photographer’s name and which town they live in as well as the category in which the photo should be considered. Photos may be submitted via mail or email or dropped off in person.

The top two photos from each category will be reproduced for display in the new courthouse when it opens next year. Following the July 31 submission deadline, winners will be announced in September.

The full rules of the contest are available at Mendocino.courts.ca.gov.
