MENDOCINO CO., 6/16/26 — Firefighters are battling a 25-acre wildfire Tuesday evening in a remote area of Mendocino County southeast of Covelo, fire officials said.

The Timber Fire was first reported about 3:50 p.m. in a rural area near the Eel River, according to CalFire.

As of 5:45 p.m., the blaze had burned 25 acres, with no containment.
Air tankers are aiding firefighters in battling the blaze, which is difficult to access due to heavy timber and rough terrain, Cal Fire said.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage to structures.
