MENDOCINO CO., 6/30/26 — All fireworks are illegal in Mendocino County, Cal Fire reminded people ahead of the Fourth of July weekend.
All types of fireworks are illegal in Mendocino County and using them is punishable by law, the state agency reminded. This includes sparklers, bottle rockets, Roman candles, firecrackers, aerial shells and skyrockets. Professional firework shows are an exception.
Fireworks are inherently dangerous, and children are at the greatest risk of injury, Cal Fire warned.
Anyone held liable for firefighting costs or property damage costs associated with the start of a wildfire may have to pay hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars, Cal Fire cautioned.
Cal Fire said they are working with local law enforcement and firefighting agencies to seize illegal fireworks and prosecute anyone found to possess them.
