MENDOCINO CO., 6/8/26 — Since the Mendocino County elections office released an unprocessed ballots report last week, more than 1,000 additional ballots came in through the mail, as allowed by California elections code.

In a statement issued after 4 p.m. Friday, Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder Katrina Bartolomie said there are 17,720 ballots left to count for Mendocino County. This means 1,148 ballots were received after the unprocessed ballots report came out Thursday afternoon, reporting 16,572 unprocessed ballots.

California elections code 3020 states that county elections offices may receive ballots postmarked on or before election day and received by the elections office no more than seven days after election day.

Ballots left to count include 3,618 ballots for the District 3 county supervisor race, 4,216 ballots for the District 5 race and 16,853 ballots left to count for Measure A, according to Bartolomie.

Bartolomie said the unprocessed ballots report on the elections page of the county website will be updated each Thursday afternoon until the election results are certified.

  1. Signatures to match? To what previous signature? Voter registration card? Are those on hand, to match? It’s just beyond strange, that no ID, is required, but signatures, must match. So mail ballots, have many flaws, and inconsistencies. How can a person check, if their ballot has been counted? My envelope came back in the mail last time, from post office. Which the poll place and county office, both stated, that’s impossible. But the impossible happened. Luckily, it came back, on voting day, so I took to the poles. If it was one day later, my vote would have been null & voided, because post office, sent it back.
I want to trust the system, but when the time it takes, the mistakes made in mailing, last time, it makes me wonder, if there is a better, safer, faster way. Computers can be hacked, so I get the delay of mail in. But I wish we could all get a verification, our votes, went through the process.

  2. You can use BallotTrax or Where’s My Ballot at the CA.gov website to track your ballot and see if it’s counted. Every ballot has its own number.

  3. The way our election operates has been tried and tested and is the law of the land. It’s always been this way. Why are mail in ballots now all of a sudden an issue? Our President harps on mail in voting that it is corrupt and anyone who does it is corrupt and then he turns around and mails in his vote.

Personally, I wish California did not take so long to count votes and the state should do a better job explaining how the system works to voters.

If voter ID became a requirement, I believe the onus should be on the government to issue and provide voter identification cards to all legal voters. Just like they provide us a SSN and auto enroll our youth into a military draft.

For now, the law and system is what it is and thankfully there hasn’t ever been proof of any major instances of voter fraud. Certainly nothing that would ever change an election.

    1. The anti-Trump voters use the catchall phrase, “Well even if there is rampant cheating going on in the late-night counting, it’s not enough to change the outcome of the election. Oh, and by the way, there has not been one piece of evidence presented in any court that has upheld the rumor of cheating have taken place, not ever.” Your “D” vote is safe with us. We know what is best, for you, the State, the Country.
So the day after the election the conservative candidate is ahead and the new tax is losing. But after several nights of counting we wake up to a different result, the conservative candidate lost and the new tax passed.

    2. 99% of those who claim they are too stupid/too poor/too defective in some way to get an ID to vote, would have absolutely zero problem getting an ID if it was required for welfare benefits or to go to some desirable venue for their personal gain.

There is precisely ONE reason for opposition to voter ID: you cannot pretend to be someone else if ID is checked.

    3. Not correct. CA went to 100% mail ballots during Covid. Before that it was only upon request. With unreliable voter rolls, sending a ballot to every “person” on the voter roll means opportunity for fraud. You can register to vote up to Election Day with no ID, no SSN, no home address, and the honor system for claiming to be a citizen. Then once a ballot is mailed, two signatures on the envelope means NO signature get verified (this is the law). The entire voter registration and voting process has been designed for fraud and cheating. The real question is, why? I wish the press would investigate that!

  4. The vote count would be faster if the requirement was that all ballots must be received by election day. When I first voted in Mendocino County, it was in person after showing ID and signing an election book on election day. Results were generally announced that night at the courthouse.

  5. “One-in-Five Mail-In Voters Admit They Cheated in 2020 Election,” that’s the headline for a new survey by Rasmussen Reports and The Heartland Institute. Some 21% of Rasmussen respondents “say they filled out a ballot, in part or in full, on behalf of a friend or family member, such as a spouse or child,” while “19% of those who cast mail-in votes say a friend or family member filled out their ballot, in part or in full, on their behalf.” Rasmussen adds, “Furthermore, 17% of mail-in voters say that in the 2020 election, they cast a ballot in a state where they were no longer a permanent resident.” These are just the people who admit to illegal voting activities, the real numbers could be far higher. There is no evidence because the mail-in system is rigged, not to find any.

    1. “There is no evidence because the mail-in system is rigged, not to find any.”

Thats why the convicted felon adjudicated rapist pedo war criminal murderer con artist votes by mail.

And anyone trusting anything that Rasmussen Reports and The Heartland Institute publish, needs to really rethink their source of information

    2. I haven’t lived in my “home” (birth) county in California for 30 years, but I found out my name was still “registered” in that county a few years back, even though I had re-registered in two other California counties (respective to where I lived at the time) in the years since.

The idea that these “elections” are completely honest would be laughable if not so seriously dystopian.

Oh, and before any of the usual suspects start shrieking at me, NO, I did not vote for nor support Trump in 2016, 2020, or 2024.

    3. OutOfThisWorld says:

“the convicted felon adjudicated rapist pedo war criminal murderer con artist”

Please tell us what you think of “Democratic” Senatorial candidate Graham Platner. Do you support him staying in the race as numerous “Democratic leaders” have encouraged him to?

No, I’m not MAGA, and I’ve never supported con man Trump, but I do enjoy calling out HYPOCRITES. Prove me wrong.

  6. As usual the voting and Mendocino County is just like the voting in California and general, corrupted. Otherwise they would have already had the count done because I remember when we had the count done within two days. Recently of course that has changed and there’s absolutely no reason for that except for corruption. I’m embarrassed by what our state has come to

    1. Then move….

Quit bitching and take a stand and show the state just how mad you are and MOVE

  7. As a pole worker for over six elections, I strongly suggest, the people not supporting nor trusting the existing system volunteer and become a pole worker. If you cannot do it, find a friend or neighbor who has participated and ask them about the process. In most cases the skeptics have never bothered to look into the procedures and only show concern after the event. For my part, if you do not want to be part of the process, shut up and step aside.

    1. Is a “pole (sic) worker” similar to an “adult entertainer”?

      Oh, you meant POLL. LOL

We skeptics look at FACTS and the appearance of malfeasance, as well. And you’ve just demonstrated just how “accurate” you “pole” workers are. HA HA HA

“Elections” are among society’s most notorious and shameless con jobs on people.

  8. You have to be particularly and peculiarly stupid to still believe in these “elections.”

Regardless of what our rulers and the corporatist media insists we believe to the contrary, the chronic “irregularities” in the “electoral process” are clear and undeniable.

The entire point of voting on ONE SINGLE DAY is to avoid the possibility of ballot stuffing like what appears to be happening here (and in Los Angeles).

“Oh, there’s no evidence of ‘widespread’/’meaningful’/[insert other weasel word here] election fraud.” LOL

Remember, the government and corporations NEVER lie to you. If you claim they do, they’re not bad – YOU ARE.

  9. I remember, not to many years ago we had one day of voting with a paper ballot. We could request an absentee ballot. We usually had the results the next day.

  10. “I love the smell of ballot drops in the morning. It smells like…victory.”

  11. Please note, as explained to me by a Ukiah postal worker, no mail received in Mendocino County is sorted in Mendocino county anymore. Every piece of mail travels to San Francisco’s main sorting facility for processing. What that means, for example, is if you mail a letter from Ukiah to Ukiah it travels down to SF for sorting, postage verification etc and then back to Ukiah for local sorting and delivery. So, whatever your postmark date, it will take extra days to return to Ukiah for delivery.

  12. Trump won!! They mad . If u look by county the Republicans are winning most. But because LA is so big they get a majority. Even sf didn’t vote for the main scumbag.

  13. This is the least of my worries. We are still without an auditor for the county. The city infrastructure is BROKEN. Our own city code compliance offices require citizens to report compliance issues which requires an educated public and with the was schools have been forced through cariculum requirements our civilization is becoming less and less educated on the things that ACTUALLY matter. Like civics both within and without the household. PUBLIC WATCHDOG. look the term up and start holding your city accountable for their misconduct against us as citizens.

  14. I signed my voter registration card in Mendocino County over 40 years ago. How can my signature possibly be exactly the same? I would rather vote in person & show ID so that I know that my vote is counted.

  15. Does this ring a bell: “With one party ruling dominance and total secrecy, fraud results in nearly all elections. But the shape of electoral fraud has changed. For 20 years, it was increasingly organized, but remained largely covert. The image remained of free and fair elections, and that voting could bring change. In the most recent elections, fraud was blatant and obvious. The message was different, voting changes nothing and the current government decides who wins.”
Starting to sound like California? Actually, that quote is from a recent study of Mozambique. We are getting to be like that, people.

  16. California requires a valid I.D. to register to vote! It includes an updated PHOTO and THUMBPRINT, since it requires a CA Driver’s License or I.D. You have to go to a DMV office in person to get those. In addition, you have to present the following official documents to confirm your citizenship status (taken from DMV.gov/Fast-Facts-5, and CA Secretary of State):
    *Your Social Security number.
*Proof of your date of birth or legal presence
*An original or certified copy of a document proving a name change, if applicable, such as your:
    +Marriage certificate.
+Name change document showing both your original and new name.
    +Adoption papers.
*Proof of California residency (2 documents needed)
All numbers are securely verified: CA ID NUMBERS ARE MATCHED WITH DMV RECORDS; SSNs ARE MATCHED WITH SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION RECORDS; Unique identifiers are verified by election officials.

Also, if you are a regular voter, or at least sign a ballot every few years, I think there is probably no problem with your signature. If there is, the County Voter Registrar’s office will contact you to let you know if they have observed one, but that doesn’t include delays by the USPS, of course. They will send you a form to sign under penalty of perjury for a provisional ballot that they will then probably compare with your voter I.D. signature. (From County of Mendocino’s Clerk/Recorder’s Office website)

That’s one reason it probably takes so long to get the final results of the elections, because you have until 2 days before the cerification of the election to submit the form. For the recent election, that date is June 28. Voter fraud probably is almost nonexistent because the certification process takes so long in order to prevent it.
Please, people, stop drinking the KookAid and start doing some research on valid, secure websites, not Trump’s trash for trollers.

    1. Your comment could not have been written better if you were or are a California State employee receiving pay to support the current election process. Alas, you lost the argument when you mentioned Trump. Unfortunately it reflects a hateful prejudice, bias and inability to objectively have an opinion in the public discourse. If we were in an academic grading situation you went from A+ to “D”. Have a nice day.

  17. I meant the County Registrar’s office will probably compare the signature on your statement with your current CA I.D. or perhaps other official records they have on file. You could contact them to find out.

    1. Tell the complete truth. Down in L.A., multiple homeless people living in Los Angeles’ infamous skid row recently said petition circulators and election workers have been paying and bribing them for signatures and voter registrations. “They will pay you to fill out the petition,” one resident said. “Cigarettes, here you go. Money, here you go,”
Many said they were given a few bucks just to sign paperwork, sometimes not even in their own name, in interviews. “They will pay you to fill out the petition,” one resident said. They registered their address as a nearby church or homeless shelter. The largest concentration of homeless voters was at the Midnight Mission in Skid Row, where voting records show 1,160 registrations but only has beds for 84 men and 36 women.
      BUT THERE IS NO EVIDENCE!
