FORT BRAGG, CA., 6/11/26 — A pride march to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride month will make its way through downtown Fort Bragg Saturday morning.

Organized by Fort Bragg High School Spectrum Club and sponsored by Mendocino County Safe Space Project, the pride march will start at Pippi’s Socks shop and end at Bainbridge Park with a potluck picnic, live music and lawn games that will go on until 4 p.m., Spectrum Club president Rowan Carr said in an email to The Mendocino Voice.

Carr said that anyone who is okay with walking about one-third of a mile is welcome to march, or they can join at the park for festivities afterwards. Carr also said that pride flags and apparel are encouraged for the march and party at the park.

Folks will begin gathering in front of Pippi’s Socks at 123 E. Laurel St. around 11:15 a.m. before the march begins at 11:30 a.m. The route will go east on East Laurel Street, right on North McPherson Street and left on East Redwood Avenue, then left on North Harrison Street before the march ends at Bainbridge Park.

  1. It goes without sayin but when I was growing up all this was considered sleazy down on seedy Polk Street in San Francisco. So now it’s a parade. I suppose the message is: We are the progressives. In your face conservatives!
Well they can’t make me watch it. I’m going camping.

  2. Just to clarify, the route is Laurel, to Franklin, to redwood to McPherson, ending at the park.

  3. The local freak show is “proud.”

I wonder if anyone will be handing out taxpayer-funded PrEP for the “festivities” after the circus?

  4. I’m so happy to see this community come together to support our youth, these amazing young people have put in so much work to create a sense of belonging, safety and celebration for each other. We could all learn a valuable lesson from the beautiful example they have made.
Thank you to every community member who supports them, protects them and accepts them for exactly who they are.

    Thank you.

And thank you to the Fort Bragg Police department for your presence and keen observation at this event, your honor and courage in protection of our local Youth is deeply appreciated 🙏 ✨

  5. More often than not, the one doing the name calling & acting a bully is actually the one deserving of disparaging, like freak.

How exactly have any of those people’s pursuit of happiness actually caused you injury, John?

    Leave them the fuck alone.

That “free” part of a free society is for everyone, not just John C. Tokalenko.

  6. As a local trans person, I’m grateful to everyone who helped organize this event and to everyone who shows up in support.

For me, Pride isn’t about politics or provoking anyone. It’s about community. It’s about young people seeing that they belong here. It’s about neighbors gathering in a public space and celebrating that our community includes many different kinds of people.

If Pride isn’t your thing, that’s okay too. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, whether they’re attending the march, spending time with family, camping, or doing something else they enjoy.

Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, businesses, and community members who make events like this possible.
